Ricoh Theta V in Unity

In the latest versions of Unity (from 2020 onward), the THETA V is no longer supported as a livestreaming webcam. If you want to capture a livestream from the THETA V in Unity, you will need OBS (Open Broadcaster Software).

In OBS, you can capture the THETA's feed using the "video capture device" option. For MacOS, this works "out of the box," but for Windows, you'll need the latest streaming driver for the Theta, which you can find here.

Afterward, you can use OBS to capture the THETA's livestream and then use "Start Virtual Camera" to output the video stream as OBS virtual camera.

Important is that before you Start the virtual camera you first change the Video resolution in the OBS settings form 1920x1080 to 3840x1080. You do this by clivking in the fields "Base(canvas) Resolution" and "Output (scaled) Resolution" and type in th enew resolution.

Thanks for this report on your tests. We saw a similar thing with the THETA V. MPC-HC could detect the hardware device driver (THETA V or THETA Z1) on Windows. However, other software such as Unity and OBS (Open Broadcaster Software) required the use of the software device driver. In addition, Unity also needed non-blank fields as described above. link
