# HDMI splitters

On this page you will find an overview of different hardware you can use to split one video input to different outputs

### Datapath

The Datapath family is a product line of powerful videowall controllers that offer you many possibilities of outputting a video signal over multiple outputs in a custom configuration. It is however quite pricey.

Datapath controllers remain powerful and professional solutions for multi-display setups. However, when the primary requirement is simply distributing a video signal across multiple screens — without advanced scaling, mapping, or processing functionality — significantly more affordable alternatives are now available on the market, particularly through Amazon and Chinese manufacturers.

One common low-cost solution is a 2x2 video wall controller. These devices accept a single 4K input signal and split it into four separate Full HD HDMI outputs, each displaying a quadrant of the original image. Most controllers offer several configuration modes, such as 1x4 or 2x2 layouts. However, alternative layouts can sometimes result in stretched or distorted images depending on the content and screen arrangement.

Video wall controllers are also available in larger formats, including 4x4 configurations, although the effective resolution per output decreases as the number of displays increases.
